This notice explains specifically how INGEN handles birth data — your name at birth, date of birth, time of birth, and place of birth. This data is collected and used differently from other personal information and is subject to additional protections.
Birth data means: the name recorded on your birth certificate, your date of birth, your time of birth, and your city and country of birth. INGEN also collects your current city for location-relevant timing calculations.
Birth data is collected for one purpose only: natal chart calculation.
Your birth coordinates determine the positions of astronomical bodies at the moment of your birth. Those positions are the foundation of your natal chart — the astrological, Energy Architecture, and numerological calculations that generate your Blueprint I AM, Pattern Type, GAP Index baseline, and all modality-specific intelligence.
Without birth data, natal chart calculations cannot be performed and INGEN cannot generate your personal pattern intelligence profile.
Birth time is optional. If you do not know your birth time, you select "I don't know" during the NIX induction.
When birth time is unknown:
Your birth time confidence level is stored alongside your natal chart and is used to apply appropriate accuracy warnings throughout the system.
Birth data is encrypted at rest using AES-256 encryption. It is stored in INGEN's Neon database, hosted on infrastructure in the United States. INGEN's infrastructure provider (Cloudflare, Neon) processes this data as a sub-processor under a data processing agreement with us.
Birth data is never logged in plaintext. It does not appear in system logs, error logs, or analytics events.
The INGEN system accesses birth data for calculation purposes. The natal chart calculation engine (astronomy-engine) processes birth coordinates to generate planetary positions. This is an automated, computational process.
INGEN staff do not routinely access individual users' birth data. In the event of a technical support issue that requires access, this would be documented and subject to our internal data access policy.
Certified practitioners who you have granted access to your INGEN profile receive access to your Pattern Type, GAP Index, and I AM statements. They do not receive your birth data, natal chart raw positions, or birth coordinates.
Third parties never receive your birth data for their own purposes.
Birth data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you cancel your subscription, birth data is retained for 90 days alongside your other account data, then permanently deleted. If you request account deletion, birth data is permanently deleted within 30 days. If you update your birth data (for example, to correct an error), the previous version is deleted immediately.
You can update your birth data at any time from Settings → Privacy and data → Edit birth data. If you update your birth data, your natal chart will be recalculated automatically. Your GAP Index, Blueprint I AM, and other natal-derived data will update to reflect the new calculation.
To delete your account and all associated birth data, go to Settings → Privacy and data → Delete account. Deletion is permanent and irreversible.
To request deletion of your birth data without deleting your account, contact us at privacy@ingenapp.com. Note that deleting birth data without deleting your account will make the natal-chart-dependent features of INGEN unavailable.
By providing your birth data during the NIX induction, you consent to it being collected and processed for natal chart calculation as described in this notice. This consent is recorded with a timestamp at the time you proceed past the birth data entry screen in Stage 1 of the NIX induction.
You can withdraw consent at any time by deleting your birth data or your account as described above.
